Mackenzie Thorpe Rare Vintage (1990’s) Art Collection
About This Work
Losing My Grip
Original artwork dated November 1994, accompanied by written provenance and two historic valuations from The Halcyon Gallery (2005 and 2008). Professionally framed. Early originals from Thorpe’s mid‑90s period are exceptionally scarce and represent the emotional foundation of his rise to Artist of the Year 2000. This piece is a significant early example of his ability to express vulnerability and resilience with universal clarity.
Spot by Night
Early Gloucester Old Spot pig image dated 1994. Signed Limited Edition lithograph 88/275, professionally framed, size W30” x 26”, with Certificate of Authenticity. A short print run and early date make this a highly desirable rural‑themed Thorpe work, especially sought after by collectors of his pre‑commercial period.
Out Together
Early depiction of a husband and wife walking together, dated 1995. Signed Limited Edition serigraph 58/275, professionally framed, size W38” x 26”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Serigraphs are among Thorpe’s rarest mediums, valued for their depth and labour‑intensive production. This large-format piece captures one of his most iconic themes: companionship and northern tenderness.
Under the Shedding Chestnut Tree
Tree Signed Limited Edition lithograph 04/600, professionally framed, size W18” x 14”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Extremely low edition number and scarce availability make this one of the harder early Thorpe prints to source. Works featuring sheltering trees belong to his “protection” series, symbolising emotional refuge and childhood memory.
Will I Be As Big As You
Artist Proof lithograph AP04/85, professionally framed, size W24” x 16”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Very low AP number. Artist Proofs are significantly rarer than standard editions and were traditionally reserved for the artist and studio. Purchased in 1999 as your first Thorpe piece, giving it continuous provenance and strong collector appeal.
You Only Need Love
Artist Proof lithograph AP04/85, dated 1999, professionally framed, size W24” x 24”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Very low AP number. A highly sought‑after romantic work from Thorpe’s late‑90s breakthrough period, known for its strong performance on the secondary market.
Interflora
Artist Proof lithograph AP04/85, dated around 2000, professionally framed, size W18” x 14.5”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Very low AP number. Floral works by Thorpe are comparatively rare, and AP floral editions are especially scarce, making this a strong collector’s piece.
When I Fall In Love
Artist Proof lithograph AP08/85, dated 1999, professionally framed, size W18” x 18”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Low AP number. Part of Thorpe’s romantic series, increasingly difficult to source in AP format and highly desirable among collectors of his late‑90s emotional works.
The Children
Artist Proof lithograph AP08/85, dated 2000, professionally framed, size W24” x 16”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Low AP number. Childhood imagery is Thorpe’s signature theme, and multi‑figure child compositions are rarer than single‑figure works, adding further scarcity.
Wonkaland
Artist Proof lithograph AP09/85, dated 20 November 1999, professionally framed, size W30” x 16”, with Certificate of Authenticity. Includes a personal handwritten note from Mackenzie Thorpe on the reverse — an exceptional provenance feature that elevates this piece into a premium collector tier. Personal inscriptions are extremely rare and significantly enhance desirability. Ignore size as all in desription…A collection from the 1990’s.
